Describe your ideal home library.

Matthew: I’m going to be really lame and say that if I could exchange all the books we have for an enormous movie collection I would. I have a friend, Tony, who has probably like 15,000 movies and walking into that room every week is mindblowing. They’re’ all organized and everything. It’s like a Blockbuster or something. It’s so cool. A bunch of friends go every week to watch movies and we “rent” movies from him at the end of the night. It’s super cute. It’s a bit harder to do that with books. Reading is so much more of a singular thing, you can’t really read in a group in a fun way.

I think though if I had to design my own personal library it would be its own room. All the books in a singular room, with all of these comfy places to sit and read. A dozen or so blankets strewn around the room and some tables. Maybe some light music playing. I’m always so drawn to spaces that feel lived in, that have a good smell to them and that are warm and welcoming. Lisa and I try to make our home like that, warm and welcoming and I think that could translate to a library room.

Matthew Erman is a comics writer from Columbus, Ohio. Alongside Lisa Sterle, he co-created the critically acclaimed comic horror series, Long Lost, which was optioned for Film/TV by Producer Jenny Klein (The Witcher, Daisy Jones and The Six). About Lisa Sterle:

Lisa Sterle is a Columbus artist with work spanning from comic books to concept design to pop-culture-fueled illustration.
