Fia Drake, Soul Hunter Book 2
releases March 26th

The hunt is on: Who is the predator; who is the prey?

Convents, crossbows, and creeps–all in a day’s work when it comes to hunting damned souls. Quick-witted and always on the go, Fia Drake’s whole life has revolved around independence.

Now that independence is being threatened. First it was a fiery phoenix breaking through her window. Now, it’s a shimmering, winged being beckoning her back to the community she left in her teens. Worse yet, she is asked to become a mentor to a new generation of soul hunters.

If it were up to her, she would just skip town.

Unfortunately, two complications prevent her from leaving.

Complication #1

A message from the tarot reveals someone close is plotting against her, and the best way to uncover a traitor is to stand by their side.

Complication #2

The drummer in her bed isn’t going away. Max Hawkins, her unrelenting knight in scuffed sneakers, refuses to let her fight alone.

With a shot of liquid courage and a blessed tattoo, can Fia work out who’s hunting her–or will it all end in flames?

About the Author

What began with a princess captured by a pirate and rescued by a dragon has developed into D. Gabrielle Jensen’s lifelong fascination with stories of the unexpected and unexplored. She has dabbled across many styles and genres, but whether through startling, staccato works of pulp horror or the dirt and grime of urban fantasy, she always finds her way back to speculative fiction.

An award-winning bestseller, D. is built from drumbeats and hot asphalt. Even as an imaginative child in the rural mountains of Colorado, she felt pulled to the chaos and clamor of The City—any city, every city. With this in mind, she aims to infuse her work with mortar and music. Her favorite views of any city are from the rooftops and the side streets. She strives to show the beauty of both in her stories, urging you to walk the streets with her as she introduces you not only to powerful heroines and antiheroines but to the buskers, bartenders, and baristas who make up the fabric of every city.

If writing be her first love, music is the trusted friend D. turns to when that love forgets her birthday. She can sing along with new songs before they’ve finished playing and set up a drum kit blindfolded. She can’t remember a time when she didn’t know how to play her parents’ vinyl records. She has one Spotify playlist (out of many) that can run for two full days without repeat and an active hatred for paperless concert tickets. She works that love of music into her writing through allusions to lyrics in imagery, characters named after songs and musicians, and behind-the-scenes playlists. She will even write to a metronome if she needs to give a scene just the right cadence.

D. loves things that begin with the letter C—coffee, cats, cities, conversation, concerts—and things that don’t—airports, humans, macrophotography, urban decay, macrophotography of urban decay, and the beauty of flaw. She encourages everyone to join her across social media and on Patreon. Strike up a conversation. What are you waiting for?

At the height of WWII, Japanese forces occupy the Korean peninsula. Hana and Jina Bak are Korean at heart but divided in their affections for their “new culture.” It would be normal teenage behavior if they weren’t trafficked into being “Comfort Women” for the Japanese military. The girls must learn how to navigate the rules of the comfort station, ally themselves with powerful friends, and resist the temptations many sex slaves succumb to. With a newfound appreciation for sibling relationships and devotion to ones’ family, the girls must decide the best way to get home before they lose their lives, their sanity, and their very souls. In the vein of the Joy Luck Club, Creatures of Comfort imbues the reader with a sense of fate vs. will, good and bad luck, and family ghosts.

Creatures of Comfort Teaser

Excerpt

That night, Hana dreamt the war was over. She threw her arms in the air for victory and saluted the allied troops when they came through. They marched into the comfort station and told all the women they were free. The girls had packed what little things they had and left, but Hana stayed behind, waiting for her sister.

You’re free — what are you waiting for?” the American soldier in her dream had asked.

My sister, I cannot leave without my sister.”

The soldier took off his left boot.

What are you doing?”

No answer. He had taken off his right boot and began unzipping his pants. Frightened, Hana had started for the doorway, but Xiang blocked it. “You must service one more — then they’ll set me free,” he had demanded.

Please…I just want to return to Korea with my sister.”

What seemed like such a good dream in the beginning jolted Hana awake. It was late at night, and she couldn’t stop wondering how her little sister was doing. She only wanted to see her face, praying for her to be all right.

The treacherous, magical, seductive world of Kingdom of the White Sea, introduced by USA Today bestselling fantasy author Sarah M. Cradit in The Kingless Crown, continues in this thrilling sequel, The Broken Realm.

The crown demanded everything. The kingdom will answer.

Chaos paints the White Kingdom. Missing children, dead nobles, and a daring escape have created an upheaval that threatens the future of the entire realm.

The lords and ladies are armed with a powerful secret weapon as they prepare to make a stand against the crown, but the resistance has plenty to overcome before they can claim triumph. The lord-less Westerlands prepares for war with the formidable Quinlanden Guard spreading their men and cruelty to every corner of their Reach. In the Easterlands, the sorcerer Mortain cultivates his ominous influence over the enslaved Saleen, a decisive threat he could unleash upon the kingdom with a snap of his finger.

To the kingdom, it appears as if these assaults on their freedom are cosigned by the crown. It seems only a matter of time before the king’s victory becomes total.

But from his isolated throne in Duncarrow, King Eoghan has discovered his authority is not absolute. There are other powers at play, as sinister as they are resilient. Those close to him curate the facts he is fed, keeping him tucked away in the dark while they issue orders in his name. As his control spirals, and opposing forces gain ground, the king’s fragile resolve turns to desperation.

Yet, across the kingdom, a quiet but powerful awakening of magic is taking place. One that began generations ago, on a cold night in Duncarrow…
