Satirical Fantasy

PG-13: Content not suitable for young teens

A political satire about escapism for a hyperpolarized America where politics determine facts. A fantasy about reality.

Brensin is back.

His eyes on the throne, he is joined by Masothelio, the wizard, Jin, the thief, Gullin, the bard, and Rainn. Together, they climb the mountain, evade the dragon, find the magical amulet, and come back just in time for Brensin’s assassination on page 9.

The others scramble.

Betrayed, Masothelio submerges himself in a new role, swimming against the current of the political tides.

Branded, Gullin struggles to make a life for himself once again.

Disadvantaged for so long, Jin helps her family out of poverty, only to learn that she cannot escape her reality.

Isolated, Rainn escapes into a make-believe world made just for him, where he can be happy and powerless.

Flight of Fools blurs the lines between what is fantasy and what is real. It pokes holes in the page until there is nothing left to keep the real world from seeping in, and nothing left to stop the ending from reaching out through the page to clutch your chest and squeeze.

A fierce werewolf consumed by his past. A human used as bait. A connection neither expects.

Hans lives only for vengeance. No more Pack. No friends. Only the dark void inside him tormenting him about his past. Yet when he meets a dark-haired beauty, desire tears through him and changes everything. But werewolves never take mates, and to claim her would doom him and ensure the rising evil wins.

One moment Briony’s eating in the tavern, and the next a necromancer has her tied up in a cave as bait for a werewolf. Stuck in the middle of a centuries old battle, she needs to escape. Now. Except when the werewolf arrives and she gets her chance, she doesn’t run. No—she helps him and decides to join him to face a formidable enemy who will do anything to kill her. And with each day that passes, every gentle touch, every silky purr, the werewolf claws his way further into her heart.

They have one month to work together to take down a sorceress. One month to decide to remain together forever. Everyone in Briony’s life has left her, and she doesn’t believe in love anymore. Secrets in Hans’s past prevent him from making Briony his. They may save the world, but will they save each other?

Publishers Note: The hero of the story is a walk-on-two-legs mythological kind of werewolf. He is not a human man who shifts into a wolf. The book cover accurately depicts what the hero looks like. He is in this form the entire book. If you like a little monster in your man—this book is perfect for you. If you enjoy sweeping fantasy with a happy ever after—this book is for you. “Fate Awakened was my introduction to the Monster/Werewolf Romance genre and I loved every page-turning second! The author’s descriptive ability was a pleasure to read, and I instantly became lost in the magical world of Ulterra that she’s created for us.”~ Sarah on Goodreads

Hans held his breath as Briony shifted closer. Sweet vanilla swirled around him. He lowered his mouth to her neck, trailing up the column with his lips. Her skin was so smooth, with her scent the strongest right there—where her pulse skittered below her jaw. He licked it.
She wrapped her arms around his neck.
He nibbled at the spot she liked best, close to the hollow at her throat. “This is you and me. I don’t want you because of some rune.”
She didn’t answer.
“I want you to spend the night with me.” He put his lips on the soft shell of her ear. “I need you.” He purred a long velvety trill, and she rubbed against him.
“You aren’t fighting fair when you make that sound.”
“You want me. Only I can give you what you need. Satisfy you.” His mouth trailed along her shoulder, and when his teeth snagged in the fabric of her shirt, he growled—a short, frustrated grumble. Hans stepped back and put his hand out. They needed to go somewhere private. Just the two of them. All night.
Briony didn’t move. She stared at his hand, gulped in a large breath, and released it slowly. A maelstrom pounded in his chest and made it twist in pain. She wasn’t going to join him.
Her small hand slid over his palm and laced into his fingers.
A tingle shot up his arm, warming him and quieting the frenzy in his chest. He closed his fingers around hers like he held a baby bird. Precious and delicate.
He hauled her close and picked her up. Instead of going through the palace, he took the path through the forest to his bedroom. Briony ran her hands up his neck, along his face, her fingers desperate and hungry. Even with the cool air, he was on fire.
He kicked his door open and tumbled with her on the bed.
“You think the desire you feel for me is because of a rune?” He pinned her wrists above her head. “Everything you feel is because it’s me. Only me. Not some ancient symbol. I’ll tease you until you admit the truth.” He loosened his grip. “Unless you don’t think you can take it?”
Her pupils dilated. “I can take it. Prove it to me.”
He grinned. “Good. I’m not going to let you find release until you scream I’m right.”
Her eyes widened, and she froze under him.
He shifted back and released her wrists. “What?”
“You smiled.”
“I’m about to see you naked.” He tore her clothes off with one slice until only her undergarments remained.
She shuddered. “But you never smile.”
He ripped her undergarments off. “Are you ready for me to show you how much you want me? To see exactly what’s between us?”
Her pupils dilated. “Yes.”

Excerpt: (R-rated)

Mission accomplished. A simple in and out job, take aim at the target and pull the trigger. Now it was time to vanish, lie low and keep my head down. I usually played by the rules, but tonight I didn’t want to be alone. Danger is an aphrodisiac and I was one anxious horndog. I didn’t sniff trouble in the wind, so I went to Jared’s apartment, where I could keep my head down and suck his cock at the same time.

My digital car clock said three am when I pulled into a dark spot behind Jared’s building. He’d be asleep, so I let myself in with the key he’d given me. I shed my clothes in the living room and left them on the floor. I wanted to slip into bed beside Jared and surprise him. Quiet as a church mouse, I opened the bedroom door. A floorboard creaked as I stepped over the threshold. The light came on, blinding me for a few seconds.

Jared sat up and looked daggers at me. “Do you know what time it is, Ray?”

I grinned sheepishly. “Time to get busy?”

“What were you doing until 3 am?”

“Missing you.”

“Right.” Jared threw a pillow at me. “Go home, Ray.”

I picked up the pillow and walked over to the bed. “Don’t be such a sourpuss.” I tucked the pillow behind his back. Yawning, I scrubbed a hand through my regulation cut, two inches of hair on the top of my head, and tapered down the sides and back. I like to leave a little for Jared to pull on. The thought made my dick even harder.

Jared lay down and put an arm over his face. “I have to get up for work in a few hours. Lock the door on your way out.”

I sat on the bed and slid my hand under the sheet. Jared’s limp dick didn’t budge when I made contact. Damn, he really was pissed.
“Okay, go to sleep. I’ll just lie next to you.”

“I don’t want you here, Ray.”

My temper rose, but I tamped it down. I have a short fuse but I try to lengthen it around Jared. A few slow deep breaths calmed me down. I pulled Jared’s arm back and stared at his face. His eyes were closed and it was hard to tell if he meant what he said. “Look at me,

Reluctantly, he opened his eyes. God, he was gorgeous. Honey brown hair framed high cheekbones and emerald green eyes.

“Come on, babe, you know you don’t mean it.”

Jared and I had been together for eight months, and I’d gotten used to having a steady fuck, or as steady as it could be in my line of work. I didn’t see Jared as much as he would have liked, and the longer we were together, the harder it was to explain my absences. But, nothing worthwhile came easy and I was determined to keep him. I liked knowing Jared was there when I needed him. And right then, I needed him bad.

“Yeah, I mean it. Get out.”

“Maybe I can change your mind.” I pulled the sheet off his body and played with the sexy smattering of light brown hair between his pecs.
The trail continued down his belly leading to a neatly trimmed bush and still flaccid cock.

He was the light to my dark, in appearance and character. We would have made a striking pair before my injury. I ruffled Jared’s hair. His cut wasn’t much longer than mine, a cop cut. A vision of Jared in his dress blues flashed through my mind. I’d jacked off to that image countless times. Who didn’t love a man in uniform? Suddenly an idea popped into my head.

“You’re right, babe. I shouldn’t take you for granted.” I stood, but instead of leaving, I walked over to the closet and took out his uniform. “Put your blues on and punish me. Handcuff me to the bed, spank me, plug me –”

The ghost of a grin played on Jared’s lips. “You crazy fucker.”

“Exactly. I’m crazy to fuck you.”

No lie there. I never got enough of Jared. Still, if it had been up to me, we’d never have hooked up. I wasn’t stupid. I knew it was a bad idea to fuck a cop.
